Time and Billing: The Bill
Bills can be printed in a batch at the end of the month, or on demand at any
time during the month. A bill can be blocked, by putting it on 'HOLD'. This
means that transactions will accumulate on the bill until you decide to take
it off hold and bill the account. A group of matters can be assigned a billing
frequency so that those matters can be billed on a specific day, month
or quarter.
Pre-bills (draft copies of the final bills) can be printed to be distributed
to the attorneys for checking and for write up/down purposes. The Pre-bills
are changed using the Pre-bill Editor. Both pre-bills and final bills can be
reprinted as many times as required prior to the close of the billing cycle.
Final Bills can be produced in a variety of billing formats which range from
the very detailed to very concise.
In the DOS based programs, if you did not use a letterhead, the system would
print one for you. However, the choice of fonts was limited, so many users incurred
the cost of using preprinted stationery. The Windows 95 based system enables
us to customize your bill format(s) using the range of fonts offered by Windows
95 for many printers.
The standard bill formats assume that you have a printer with at least the
capabilities of an HP IV and make use of the Times Roman and Ariel True Type
Fonts. If you wish, we are also able to customize the bill “header”
to be as similar to your letterhead as possible - please check with us for the
associated cost.
The system includes a number of standard formats. Two examples of a detailed
format are provided on the following page. Less detailed formats are also included.
CUSTOMIZED BILLS
If the standard bill formats do not meet your full billing requirements, we
are able to customize bills according to your specifications.
